Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has condemned the killing of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohiimini local Government Area of the state, Boniface Okloho last Saturday by unidentified gunmen.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, and made available to Journalists in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, the governor commiserated with the APC in the state over the murder and called on security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law.
Governor Ortom described the act as barbaric, anti-democratic and capable of derailing the electoral process in the area, maintaining that violence in any form has no place in a democracy.
While sympathizing with the Okloho family, the people of Ohimini as well as the leadership and members of APC in the state, the governor stressed that those who take the lives of others on account of politics are the real enemies of the state.
