Ekiti Chef Set To Overturn Unconfirmed Baci’s Record To Break Guinness World Records

A chef identified as Damilola Adeparusi has begun a 120-hour cooking marathon in Ekiti to break Hilda Baci’s record.

Baci, the Akwa-Ibom native, hit the limelight last month after setting a new world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual although still subject to confirmation by Guinness World Records (GWR).

She cooked for 100 hours to beat the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by Lata Tondon, the Indian chef, in 2019.

While Baci continued to enjoy accolades for the feat, a video surfaced on social media in which Adeparusi expressed her determination to surpass the Akwa-Ibom chef’s record.

Adeparusi commenced her cook-a-thon on June 9, with plans to reach the 120-hour mark.

As of the time of this report, Adeparusi has reportedly cooked for over 30 hours.

The cooking marathon has attracted the attention and support of social media users.

Adeparusi’s cooking marathon followed after the GWR said it would first assess Baci’s attempt before officially confirming the record.

It remains to be seen whether a Guinness World Records representative is present in Ekiti to monitor Adeparusi’s cook-a-thon.
