Kazeem Olaigbe Wins UEFA Conference League Goal Award

The Belgium U21 international, Kazeem Olaigbe has been voted the UEFA Conference League Goal of the Day winner.

He won the award ahead of Keita Kosugi, who scored a stunner for Djurgårdens IF in their 2-1 win over Víkingur Reykjavík.

Olaigbe scored a wonderful goal in the 81st minute for Cercle Brugge in their 4-1 win over NK Olimpija Ljubljana at the Stožice Stadium on Thursday.

Olaigbe received a pass from Kévin Denkey and evaded the tackle of his marker before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top left corner to round up the scoring for Cercle Brugge.

It was his second goal of the clash. He opened the scoring in the second minute, tapping the ball inside the net from Alan Minda’s cross to register his second goal in the Conference League this term.

It has been a productive campaign for the Southampton-reared winger in the competition. He has three goals in four games despite having two starts and he also has one assist to his credit.

Denkey, who has netted four goals is the only player to have scored more goals for Brugge in the competition, making him one of the most decisive players for the Belgian side

Besides his heroics in the Conference League, the Nigerian forward has been struggling for game time in the Jupiler Pro League this season and has not scored enough goals to secure a starting berth.

He has made thirteen appearances in the Belgian top flight, including five starts, scoring just one goal.
