The traditional ruler of Umueri, Anambra East local government area, Igwe Ben Ameke has been suspended following a hot argument on who to break Kolanut among traditional rulers in the local government area during the visit of Governor Willie Obiano to the area.
The Monarch was suspended on the basis of being the brain behind the argument for one year of which other royal fathers described as violation of customs and tradition of Igbo land as it pertains to rules revolving round the breaking of kola.
The suspension was however announced in a letter issued by the chairman of the Anambra East Traditional Council, Igwe Alex Edozieuno.
The letter gave the directives that “an observer from Umueri should be nominated to be attending a meeting of royal fathers in the area while the suspension lasts.
Alongside this, Igwe Ben Ameke was accused of persistent harassment of subjects, non-performance of traditional rites with the claim of being born-again Christian. He was as well accused of inflicting injuries on his subject during traditional ceremony.
