Tinubu Sympathizes with Niger State Government, Families of Fuel Tanker Explosion Victims

In the wake of the devastating fuel tanker explosion that claimed the lives of many in Niger State, President Bola Tinubu has reached out to offer his heartfelt condolences to the Niger State Government and the families of those who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident.

According to reports, a petrol tanker while transporting PMS on Sunday collided with a trailer carrying passengers and cattle, triggering a catastrophic explosion that claimed the lives of people and livestock.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed his commitment to providing ongoing assistance and support to those affected by the tanker explosion.

The statement states, “President Bola Tinubu has sent heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State on the petrol tanker explosion on the Bida-Agaie-Lapai road on Sunday in Niger State, which claimed the lives of 48 people and livestock.

“According to the Niger Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), many people were injured in the accident, which also involved a truck loaded with cattle and passengers.

“President Tinubu commiserated with the families of the dead and injured victims. He also sympathized with the owners of shops affected by the tragedy.

“He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

In his message of condolences, President Tinubu commended the rapid and effective response of both federal and state emergency agencies to the fuel tanker explosion

The statement continued, “He similarly commended the good-spirited Nigerians who mobilized to the incident scene to assist the victims.

“He pledged continued support for efforts aimed at providing relief to those affected.

“President Tinubu has directed relevant federal agencies in transportation and road infrastructure to redouble their efforts and work with state governments to enhance the safety and security of travelers and residents.”

Meanwhile Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has also conveyed his deep sorrow over the devastating loss of lives and property in the explosion.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago conveyed his profound grief over the unfortunate incident, which had resulted in a staggering toll of human life and property.

Governor Bago issued a public plea for calmness among the residents of the affected area, urging them to remain patient and composed in the face of this tragedy. In his statement, he also urged road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies from occurring. The governor emphasized the importance of safety on the roads, noting that following traffic laws could help protect lives and property.

He offered prayers for the souls of those who had lost their lives in the accident, invoking divine mercy and grace to aid them in their eternal rest. He also extended his prayers to the injured, asking for God’s healing touch and a quick recovery for those who had been wounded in the explosion.
