The 371 students of the Jangebe Government Girls Secondary School in Zamfara have been reportedly set free by their abductors on Tuesday morning.
Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle, announced this to the newsmen in Gusau.
“It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity,” Mr. Matawalle said. “This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts.”
The governor thanked Allah and urged the public to rejoice with the state on achieving a safe return of the schoolgirls.
Recall that the bandits had abducted the schoolgirls from their college in Jangebe, Zamfara state, on Friday.
It was unclear how and under what terms, the girls were released but the governor’s statement indicated that a 297 of them were back.
