Drama unfolds as DSS rearrests Sowore
Less than hours after he was released by the Department of State Security Service (DSS), following a ruling by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, the DSS besieged the Federal High Court and rearrested Omoyele Sowore, who accused the secret police of planning to kill him in custody.
The convener of #RevolutionNow and the Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) during the 2019 Presidential election who was in court on Friday for a fundamental rights enforcement hearing in the ongoing trial and the SSS disregard of court orders, was held in the court premises with his lawyers and associates.
The SSS officers stormed the Abuja Division of the court on Friday morning, with attempts being made to break into the facility.
In a video on Twitter, Sowore said the DSS threatened that he will not leave their custody alive.
In the 29 seconds video, Sowore surrounded by lawyers and associate said, “What is important for Nigerians to know is that I am not going to give up until every Nigerian benefits from a country that is theirs. I have made it very clear. They tried to break me in prison, they send delegation to me and I refused. They promised that I will not walk out of their detention alive, and that is what they have come to implement today.”
