Following media reports that Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Service (DSS) has arrested the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, on Monday.
According to some media report, Magu was arrested at the Wuse office of the EFCC on Monday and was taken by armed security agents to the Aso Villa to appear before a panel reportedly set up by the President to review allegations against him by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami.
But the spokesperson of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, said “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media.”
There were reports that Malami accused Magu of insubordination and re-looting of recovered funds.
