Former Bournemouth and Burnley manager, Eddie Howe has agreed a deal in principle to become the new Newcastle manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

He became the favourite to get the job after Villarreal manager, Unai Emery decline the offer to coach Newcastle.

Howe held additional talks with Newcastle this week regarding their vacant managerial role.

The final details of his plans for the club were discussed as well as the make-up of his backroom team.

According to reports, Newcastle’s owners were impressed with the way Howe presented his views on the club, and his level of detail and research.

Attention will now turn to sorting agreements with Howe’s backroom staff.

Howe has been without a management role since leaving Bournemouth in 2020 following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

He was in talks to become Celtic manager earlier this year prior to the appointment of Ange Postecoglou but negotiations broke down.
