The Rivers State Police Command has vowed to fish out those behind the disruption that led to firing of gunshots while Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata a.k.a Teni was performing live at a carnival in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital recently.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the singer was rescued by security operatives unhurt and that it was not a case of kidnap as it was widely rumoured.

Iringe-Koko in a statement said, “She was invited for a carnival where she was performing; some miscreants started throwing stones and all that. But the police and other security agencies were on ground to ensure nothing happened. The command has started investigation into the incident to ascertain what really happened.

“The police division there in Buguma has been mandated to fish out those behind the attack. We will ensure they are brought to book.”

She said some miscreants who had a misunderstanding at the venue of the show created a scene that made security agents fire some gunshots to wade off violence.

She further revealed that the miscreants had a “free for all moment”, but the prompt intervention of the security agencies saved the situation.
