ICAN Appoints New Registrar/Chief Executive

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has announced the appointment of Dr. Musibau Lanre Olasunkanmi as its new Registrar/Chief Executive.
In a statement on Friday, his appointment was approved by the Governing Council of the Institute at its December 15, 2023 meeting.
The statement read: “This strategic decision underscores ICAN’s unwavering commitment to nurturing an exceptional leadership team, guiding the Institute toward a future marked by sustained growth and influence.
Bringing his more than a decade professional experience and leadership positions in both the private and public sectors, Olasunkanmi, a Fellow of ICAN, assumed the Registrar/Chief Executive role on February 1, 2024, succeeding Mr Kukaila Lawal, the acting Registrar/Chief Executive, who retired on March 1, 2024.
His extensive background in diverse areas of accounting and his occupancy of various strategic leadership positions affirm his capability to significantly contribute to elevating ICAN’s global standing as one of the foremost Professional Accountancy Organizations.
According to the statement, the new Registrar/Chief Executive will collaborate with a nimble Secretariat team and forward-looking Governing Council to advance ICAN’s strategic vision, foster industry collaboration, and uphold the Institute’s commitment to excellence.
“ICAN welcomes Dr. Olasunkanmi to his new role and anticipates the innovative leadership and strategic insights he will contribute to the organization’s continued success.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Olasunkanmi and convey our best wishes for a successful tenure in office,” it added.
