IGP intervenes in UNIBEN student’s death, deploys forensic support to Edo command
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has shown interest in the investigation to unravel the mystery behind the death of Vera Omosuwa, a 100 level student of University of Benin who was raped and killed by unknown persons.
According to the Force headquarters, investigation aids and forensic support has been deployed to the Edo state Police command to expedite actions on the investigation.
The spokesperson of the police force, DCP Frank Mba, on Monday said the deployment from the Force Headquarters was part of “deliberate and concerted efforts by the Nigeria Police High Command to unravel the circumstances surrounding the brutal attack and unfortunate death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omosuwa in Benin, Edo State on 28th and 30th May, 2020 respectively.”
He said the IGP has assured that the force would bring the perpetrators to book. “The IGP, while condemning the attack, commiserates with the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased. He calls for calm and assures that the Force will surely bring the perpetrators of the callous act to book in the shortest possible time.”
The late Omosuwa had gone to read in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Miracle Sanctuary Mega Parish, Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill area of Benin City when she was raped and murdered.
