Ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship election in Kogi state, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party have been charged to adopt direct primary to determine the flag bearer of the party in the November election.
The Director General of the Prince Mustapha Mona Audu Campaign Council, Kwanashie Ozotu Yahuza stated this in Abuja while addressing a World Press Conference in Abuja on Tuesday to unveil Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, as aspirant in the coming APC primaries.
“We also call on our party to be aware and beware of all the campaign of calumny circulated by our opponents to heat up the polity. Following the warm acceptance and support we have gained in Kogi state, we wish to tell our party members that if PMMA is deprived of the ticket, it may cost APC the election in Kogi state.” He stressed further that it is costly price the party cannot afford.
Yahuza promised that the PMMA administration will have 50% inclusion for women across board, because women are equally good managers and dependable leaders.
He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to advice the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to stick with free, fair and credible elections in Kogi state to rebuild the confidence of the people in APC.
Yahuza said he is confident that the Audu will bring to the people, unity and greater progress, which he said the incumbent governor Yahaya Bello have denied them in his administration.
He described the son of the late governor Audu’s son as a detribalised Nigerian who can relate to all in their ethnicity and tribes.
“We want to assume the great people of Kogi state that PMMA candidature will being unity and greater progress to Kogi people. He is detribalised and relate to all in their ethnicity and tribe.”
Audu would contend with the incumbent governor who has also shown interest in re-contesting for the top job in the state.
Recently some traditional leaders in the state led by the Attah of Igala, Idakwo Michael Ameh Oboni II visited President Buhari at the state house to present the incumbent governor as the candidate they endorse ahead of the election.
However a group, Save Kogi Movement condemned the monarchs’ move stating that their endorsement does not reflect the wish of the people of the state.
The group led by Commodore Folusho Daniels described the speech delivered by the Monachs as “a function of coercion that is not the mind of the Kogi people.”
Daniels said the move was forcefully done by the governor to get relevance “having failed in providing good governance”.
