The Lagos State government has announced that academic activities would resume in the state from August 3.

The governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the decision was made by stakeholders in the state.

According to the state government, Junior Secondary schools (JSS) and Senior Secondary schools (SSS) students preparing to sit for external examination are the only ones permitted to resume.

The state Government had in March announced the closure of all public and private schools in the state, due to the spread of covid-19.

The Federal Government had recently given conditions for reopening of schools across the country.

The Government said, schools and learning facilities reopening should have temporary isolation space and fully-equipped clinic.

It also said the schools must make provision for more classrooms and employ more teachers so that students can sit at least two meters apart.

Other conditions include provision of water, soap, sanitisers, Infrared thermometers, and referral system including protocols to take if anybody becomes unwell in school.
