My dependence on the Holy Spirit grants me victory over temptation – Emmanuel Akapo
Emmanuel Akapo, a young sexual purity advocate shares with our correspondent, Mercy Ezeokonkwo, how God has helped him discover his purpose and how God can give one clarity to purpose. He talks about purpose and that his source of motivation is Christ. Excerpt:
Briefly tell us about yourself
I am Emmanuel Akapo. I am a lover of Jesus Christ and a youngster passionate for souls. I am a Sexual Purity Ambassador, a Christian Writer, a French Interpreter, a Teens’ Coach and Consultant. I am the founder of Sanity Life Academy, an online platform that aims at living and preaching the importance of sexual purity and helping people faced with the challenges of immorality out from the cage, by the help of the Holy Spirit.
What’s your definition of purpose? From your definition, do you think you’re fulfilling purpose?
Purpose according to my perspectives firstly, is a divine call, to do something in specific. A purpose is an assignment given by God and entrusted in a man to fulfil in a certain area per time. To narrow my perspectives, purpose is a destiny. Destiny is a predetermined destination; in other term, it is an assigned work given to a man to execute for the given period of his or her lifetime on earth.
To me, I’m fulfilling purpose. Because, I’ve already discovered that which God has created me to do in contributing to the increase of His pleasure, and to the betterment of the globe. I am certain that I’m living my purpose.
What motivates you to do all you do?
I was in the world, and I practiced all sort of things. I know how it looked like. It is my hunger for lost souls fueled by the Holy Spirit that motivates me to do what I do. In all honesty, it is the hunger!
What are the challenges you’ve faced and how were you able to overcome them?
As a Sexual Purity Ambassador, I am supposed to live by example. To be honest, different kind of temptations arise every single day. But dependence on the Spirit of God has always paved way for me to overcome.
One of the challenges happened in 2020. The devil hired two young ladies to seduce me into the pit of fornication. While I was just coming out from that same pit not up to a year. They both freely gave their body to me. But my dependence on the Holy Spirit granted me the victory over that temptation. That was just the least compare to what I gracefully overcome everyday.
How can one move from being a shadow to spotlight?
To me, moving from shadow to spotlight is as moving from darkness to light. Permit me to borrow a word from my Lord Jesus Christ, in John 8:12
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
So, it is Jesus that can move from obscurity to clarity. Jesus is the HOW. Get close to Him in truth and in spirit, and I promise you will never regret it.
How can young people remain relevant in this time?
I think the Lord – Jesus taught me this last year. To what I learnt, being relevant as a young person in this era needs 7 factors.
1. Spiritual growth and stability
2. Constant sexual purity lifestyle
3. Valid global exposure
4. Obtaining Moral wisdom
5. Acquisition of Emotional intelligence
6. Understanding the law of giving
7. Financial breakthrough
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I see myself as a highly-sorted-for Teacher of the Word, training the ones called by God into discipleship and from discipleship into masters in the ministry God has called them into. Moreover, to say but few; a highly-paid writer, and sorted-for Teens consultant.
What skills would you advice young people to learn?
I advise young people like me to consider digital skills, like:
(i) Graphic design
(iii) Programming, app and web development
(vi) Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
(vii) Content marketing
And other skills, like: Photography, Video/Animation creation, breeding and anything around Informatics.
