The United Kingdom’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has announced the resounding success of its Cyber-security Inward Trade Mission to Nigeria, strengthening the cyber-security cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement released on Friday in Lagos, the British High Commission in Nigeria confirmed that the mission, which took place in Abuja and Lagos, was instrumental in advancing trade relations between the UK and Nigeria. The mission also aimed to enhance the digital ecosystem’s resilience in Nigeria.
The mission featured 13 UK cyber-security experts who engaged with key stakeholders in Nigeria. Through training, knowledge-sharing, and the promotion of UK cyber-security solutions, they worked to address Nigeria’s specific challenges while strengthening local capacity.
The British High Commission highlighted the mission’s success in fostering productive discussions between UK and Nigerian stakeholders. These interactions have strengthened cyber-security partnerships and paved the way for future collaborations. The mission also provided an opportunity for the UK to showcase its advanced cyber-security solutions and how they can be customized to meet Nigeria’s needs.
Mark Smithson, the UK Department for International Trade’s Country Director, reflected on the mission’s impact: “The UK and Nigeria share a strong partnership in cyber-security, driving innovation, resilience, and economic growth. This trade mission highlights the UK’s world-class expertise while fostering collaborations that support Nigeria’s digital transformation. Together, we are building a safer and more prosperous digital future for both our nations.”
