NNPP Says Defeat Awaits Tinubu In 2027, No Magic Will Stop Him, APC Vows
Hashimu Dungurawa, The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has predicted a resounding defeat for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, attributing it to policies he described as anti-masses.
He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempt to transform Nigeria into a one-party state.
Speaking to journalists in Kano on Thursday, Dungurawa indicted the APC-led administration of stifling political diversity while imposing economic hardship on Nigerians.
He argued that the NNPP remains committed to challenging the APC’s dominance and restoring democratic balance.
“With your unfriendly anti-masses policies and your stance, just prepare for defeat in the next general election. You either change them or Nigerians will collectively change you,” Dungurawa stated.
Dungurawa highlighted President Tinubu’s inauguration speech on May 29, 2023, as the beginning of what he described as a deliberate assault on Nigerians’ livelihoods.
“From the podium on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu started reeling out anti-masses policies as if Nigerians had stepped on his toes. He kept slamming unfriendly policies on us, even up till today,” he remarked.
The NNPP chairman expressed confidence in his party’s ability to challenge the APC across all 36 states in the next elections.
“With these challenges and many more deliberately created by the All Progressives Congress-led government, it is just a matter of time as we will certainly ensure Tinubu is out in 2027 and Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, a true democrat, steps in,” Dungurawa said.
Obviously responding to Dungurawa’s threat, Chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, has asserted that there is no force capable of preventing President Bola Tinubu from securing victory in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, January 3, 2025, Zazzaga expressed confidence that Nigerians will overwhelmingly support Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027, as his policies are expected to have positively transformed the nation by the time of the election.
Zazzaga asserted that the ‘courageous measures’ implemented by Tinubu, including the elimination of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the Naira, were essential actions required to steer the nation in a positive direction.
He remarked that Tinubu deserves recognition for making decisions that, in his view, previous governments hesitated to undertake, and he expressed confidence that Nigerians would soon experience the beneficial outcomes of these policies.
“There is no magic that will make Tinubu lose the presidential election in 2027. There is no way the President Bola Tinubu-led APC government will not have a second term in office, and this is not because of the incumbency factor, but due to the fact that the President is doing well and his achievements will be appreciated by Nigerians come 2027.
“The policies introduced by President Tinubu, such as subsidy removal and floating the Naira, are necessary steps that had to be taken for the good of the country.
“President Tinubu should be commended for his courage in taking the decisions, which became vital to the survival of the country because previous administrations failed to do the right things.
“Already, the positive impact of the removal of the subsidy and floating the Naira is being felt, and by the time the next elections come around, Nigeria’s economy would have been fully repositioned on the path of sustainable growth that Nigerians would have no choice but to elect President Tinubu for a second term.”
