More than 200 participants were trained recently at the John Maxwell’s Global Youth Initiative held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Emmanuel Park, Event hall, Redemption Camp.

The youths who were from various Parishes in the RCCG and other denominations had in attendance coaches who had been trained over the years to meet the needs of youths across board.

The 2022 event never took any of the youths by surprise. As part of her itinery, the youths were trained to become leaders in their various spaces. They were also equipped to manage temperaments, building a personality of grace, self discovery, lifting others and becoming a champion through various work ethics.

They were envisioned to see beyond the normal daily routine, but to be magnetised with positives and positive confessions as they become better by the day. According to the lead Coach, who spoke on Leadership Tips for teens, Soji Oyawoye told the youths that leadership is not a title. It is an art of inspiring people to want to work towards a common or shared goal.

Soji Oyawoye enjoined the youths to grow by the day producing results people can see, drawing other like minds to you through impartive tendencies and building a lasting legacy. He told the youths to develop their leadership skills through preparation to lead, being eager to learn, being curious of new insights, connecting to others by the day and establishing lasting relationships that help them become great.

Coach Bisi Akande, took the youths on how to lift up others, standing up and standing out and picking to becoming a hero. He captured the story of the Good Samaritan in the scriptures on how he lifted the wounded man without knowing where he’s based. He charged the youths to lift up others by seeing others as lifters.

He wants them to manage their failure by standing up at all times when they fail. According to Coach Bisi Akande, ‘’don’t be a shooting star, be a shining star’’.  Coach Lolade Akande’s , speaking on “Power of Choice and Power of Time” was more practical than theoretical where he showed the participants how the Rock could withhold more water with the pebbles and sand mixed together, an example to show to the youths to prioritized whatever they  do in life henceforth.

Coach Bisi Soji-Oyawoye took the stage by storm by her analysis of self discovery, self image and 5 keys of life. According to Coach Bisi, Faith, Family, Finance, Fitness and flourishing are the 5 key areas of life she told the youths to develop themselves with.

She explained that self discovery will always tell you to ask yourself, who are you? ‘’No one can produce anything unless one deals with himself’’. She went further, ‘’if we don’t start doing what we do right, then we can’t get it right’’. She concludes by expressing her thoughts, ‘’it’s simply about discovering who you are, and that can be done by design and not by default’’.

Coach Onyinye who moderated the event and spoke earlier, charged the youth to confess positively about themselves, situations and life aspirations. He led the youths in word exposition through life changing questions and answers even as the youths were presented with certificates after the event.

John Maxwell’s Team is a global youth initiative, equipping Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.
