Planned Protest Will Be Disastrous If Allowed To Take Place, Says AA Chairman
The Chairman of Action Alliance Party (AA), Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, has warned that there will be disastrous consequences for Nigeria stability if the planned nationwide protests against economic hardship are allowed to take place.
Omo-Aje said he acknowledged the frustrations and challenges faced by many Nigerians but emphasized the importance of a constructive approach.
In a statement he issued on Sunday in Kaduna, Omo-Aje added that he is bothered about the planned protest against economic hardship, having seen the debilitating consequences of similar protests in other parts of the world, particularly in Kenya and Bangladesh.
The AA Chairman advised that it was unnecessary to allow agents of destabilization to plunge the Nation into palpable instability, anarchy, and chaos with needless protest and disorganized demonstrations.
He stressed that arsonists and criminals might be waiting to hijack the planned protest and unleash violence on innocent Nigerians.
The chairman said, “Hoodlums would take advantage of the protest to engage in criminal activities, including looting of shops, vandalism, and robbery, and in the end, it is the masses that will suffer.
“The Action Alliance as a party distances itself from coming protests, including our loved ones. May God bless Nigeria and every loyal member of our great party, Action Alliance. Let the masses leave.”
The AA Chairman appealed to Nigerians, particularly the youths to remain calm and refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest.
