RCCG cleric urges Nigerians to vote for politicians with integrity and transparency
By Olusegun Obisanya
The Continental Overseer for Africa 3 and Middle East, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Johnson Odesola has urged Nigerians to factor in transparency and integrity of politicians who are parading themselves now for election before they vote them into any political office come 2023 general elections.
The cleric spoke on the heels of economic hardship and other ills that have bedeviled the country for some years now.
Odesola, who lamented the growing insecurity in the country, stated this while addressing some selected journalists in Lagos on the state of the nation.
He said, “However, if there would be election, Nigerians should vote with their conscience. They should consider the integrity, transparency of those they are voting for, who will serve the interest of Nigerians.
“Nigeria has got to the state and level that no one has solution to the myriads of problems in this nation today. Politicians who purported to have solutions are sinking in delusion. The economy has nosedived. Politicians’ promises are not to be relied upon.”
He asked politicians not to build their campaigns on lies of what they know they cannot fulfill.
Wondering that insecurity has not been put to rest, he passionately pleaded with government to do more in combating insecurity and make Nigerians and foreigners, particularly investors feel safe.
He condemned attacks on INEC facilities in some parts of the country, saying its grave danger capable of threatening the 2023 elections. He, however, expressed optimism in the ability of security agencies to put the situation under control.
According to him, the current inflation has dealt a big blow on the living standard of the citizenry, urging Nigerians not “to lose hope” because “God is in the affairs of the nation.”
