Scores Feared Dead as Agunechemba Security Outfit Battles Gunmen in Anambra
In a joint operation with other security agencies, the Anambra State Governor’s Agunechemba security outfit carried out a successful raid on a notorious hideout for criminals, including gunmen and kidnappers, located in Enugu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area.
Acting on precise intelligence reports, the security operation engaged in a fierce gun battle with the criminals, resulting in a significant number of the suspects being gunned down, while others reportedly escaped with serious gunshot wounds.
Items recovered at the scene included: Two AK-47 rifles, eight pump-action guns, four locally made pistols, three packets of cartridges (101 rounds), four empty AK-47 magazines, three cutlasses, one Baofeng radio, One motorcycle, Assorted charms.
Anambra State had gained a terrifying reputation as a hotbed of violent crime, with innocent people of all ages and backgrounds falling victim to relentless acts of bloodshed and kidnapping on a daily basis. The situation had reached a point where reports suggested that, on average, five individuals were being kidnapped each day in the state.
The recent joint security operation led by the Agunechemba outfit, spearheaded by Governor Soludo’s administration, represents a significant step towards the restoration of peace and safety in Anambra State.
