Siasia studying FIFA ban, says aide
Embarrassed former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has said his lawyer will look into the recent FIFA life ban he was slammed with.
The former coach spoke through his media aide, Opukiri Jones Ere at a press conference on Saturday to clear the air surrounding the issue.
Ere said Siasia was accused by the world soccer ruling body, dish out punishment without contacting him will brief the press in due course.
FIFA’s hammer is coming on the heels of emotional turmoil Siasia is presently going through following the kidnap of his mother Ogere since July.
“We want to please plead with you that the issue has been handed over to a lawyer and they are looking at the case,” Ere said.
The messages that have been received, the solidarity that have been received from the onset of this situation, my kind appeal to you guys is just for you to give us some time for the lawyers to look into the case.
“As soon as possible, I think by next week we will call on you guys to inform you of actions that will be taken.
“So, on behalf of the family of Samson Siasia I want to thank you all for coming and we pray that this well end well.”
On August 16, 2019, FIFA banned Siasia from the game for life, following a match-fixing investigation.
The adjudicatory chamber of FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee stated that the former Nigerian coach pleaded guilty of having accepted “bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics”.
