Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed his deepest condolences to the people of Nibo community in Awka South LGA following the horrific loss of life on Sunday. The governor extended his sympathies to the grieving families, acknowledging the pain and devastation caused by the tragic incident.

Determined to bring justice and prevent further violence, Governor Chukwuma Soludo vowed to hunt down the perpetrators of the heinous crime and eradicate cultism in the state. Addressing the community at Eke Market, he pledged to bring an end to the terror that had befallen Nibo community, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

Tragedy struck the community of Nibo on Sunday as a cult-related clash led to the deaths of 13 people, marring the community’s traditional New Yam festival.

He assured the people of Awka that justice would prevail and those responsible would be found and brought to account, regardless of where they might try to hide.

Soludo said, “Every avoidable loss of life in Anambra shatters my heart, especially when young lives are cut short. The mindless violence between rival cults in our communities is heartbreaking.

“Yesterday’s tragic incident in Nibo, where young lives were lost, is unacceptable. We have an anti-cultism law in place, and I have ordered immediate action against those involved.

“But laws alone aren’t enough. Parents and community leaders, let’s join forces to protect our youth! We can’t sit back while our children destroy themselves.

“Let’s take action at home and in our communities to end cultism. We will continue to pray for the lost souls and work towards a safer Anambra where people will live by the law and draw lessons from this avoidable tragedy.”
