US, Germany, France, Israel evacuate nationals from Nigeria

Due to the outbreak of covid-19 in Nigeria, some countries have been evacuating their Nationals from Nigeria.

Germany, Israel, and France have evacuated their nationals following the rising cases of the disease in the country.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, has on Wednesday said an American citizen who tested positive for coronavirus have been evacuated to the United States.

“One of the confirmed cases is an American citizen who has been evacuated to USA,” Abayomi said on Twitter on Wednesday.

“The total number of #COVID-19 cases in Lagos is now 82.”

The commissioner also stated that the last confirmed coronavirus case recorded in the state was on Tuesday, 31st of March.

He noted that eight patients have so far been discharged following their full recovery.

As at 10:00 pm on April 1, there are 174 confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.

Of the 174 confirmed cases, Lagos state has 91, FCT has 35, and Osun State has 14.

Oyo has eight cases, Ogun, Kaduna and Edo have four cases each, Akwa Ibom has five, Bauchi has three while Enugu and Ekiti states have two cases each. Rivers and Benue states have recorded one case each.

Ekiti index case was discharged earlier on Tuesday afternoon. The country’s reported deaths had underlying medical conditions.

Over 41, 000 have died globally while more than 830, 000 persons have so far been infected worldwide.
