An advocacy group, Millennials Active Citizenship Advocacy Africa (MACAA) has charged youths to participate in the electioneering process and vote during the polls in order to elect capable leaders that would move the country forward.

The Co-founder of the group, Seun Awogbenle stated this on Tuesday in a statement made available to Newsmen in Abuja.

Awogbenle urged young people in the country not to allow the maladministration and impunity in the country discourage them from voting while adding that the narrative can be changed through their votes.

According to him, “We must not allow these challenges to immobilize us, we must participate in the forthcoming general election if we want Nigeria to truly work for the greatest number of our people.

“If you refuse to vote, you have still voted, you voted for whatever outcome that may emerge from the election.”

He therefore tasked the young people to use their demographic advantage for a powerful socio-political change in the country.

“What we have today is a relic of our painful past, and a reflection of the most depressing aspect of our national history, characterized by developmental challenges and monumental failure of government, “from the flagrant abuse of executive powers, to the gross violations of constitutional rights, Nigeria is certainly tethering on the edge of the abyss, a decent into fascism and anarchy.

He lamented that pervasive poverty and maladministration of monumental proportion have become the hallmark of the present reality in the country.

He however urged the youth to effectively wield the power of the ballot and rewrite the narrative in the coming elections. “Nigeria’s problems are not insurmountable, the time has come for young people to effectively wield the power of the ballot and re write the narative,” he said.
