Buhari and Osinbajo take oath of office as President and Vice president
President Muhammadu Buhari alongside Vice president Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday morning took the oath of office as Nigeria’s President and vice president respectively.
Buhari who took the oath of allegiance today is to act in the capacity as President of Nigeria in overseeing the affairs of the country.
In his oath of office, among others, Buhari made a pledge to discharge his duties to the best of his ability without giving room for personal interest to influence his official conduct and to also abide by the code of conduct contained in the fifth schedule to the constitution of Nigeria.
According to report, Buhari read the oath after the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed. He took the oath before Nigerians in the company of his wife, Aisha Buhari.
Buhari took his oath few minutes after Osinbajo took his at about 10: 30am on Wednesday, May 29 at the Eagles Square in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital where the inauguration ceremony took place.
The vice president, Yemi Osinbajo took the oath of allegiance to act in the capacity as the vice president of Nigeria in overseeing the affairs of the country.
In his oath of office, Osinbajo pledged to do right to all manner of people and to discharge his duties without fear or favour.
Osinbajo also took the oath before Nigerians in the company of his wife, Dolapo Osinbajo.
