Two former head of states that opposed the reelection of President Muhamaau buhari during the buildup to the 2019 Presidential election, Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were absent at the Eagle Square, Abuja, where President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo took oath of office for their second term in office.
As at the time of filing this report no reason has been given for their absence.
Buhari was sworn-in at the Eagle Square, Abuja for a second term in office as Nigeria’s president. The process was conducted by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Muhammed Tanko.
Buhari had in February 23, 2019 defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and dozens of other presidential candidates in the election to emerge victorious in the Presidential election.
According to result collated and announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Buhari polled 55.6 per cent of the votes (15,191,847) to defeat Abubakar who polled 41.2 per cent (11,262,978).
Abubakar and his party, PDP, are currently challenging the result of the election in court.
