It is drafted in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (“NDPA”) and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (“NDPC”) General Application and Implementation Directive.

1. Who We Are

Integrated Impact Publishers Limited is a Nigerian-registered media company publishing news, opinion, sport, business, and lifestyle content etc. under the brand The Impact Nigeria Newspaper at https://impactngr.com. For the purposes of the NDPA, Integrated Impact Publishers Limited is the Data Controller in respect of personal data processed through the Services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in three broad ways: information you give us directly, information generated automatically by your use of the Services, and information obtained from other sources.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account and registration details — such as your name, email address, phone number, and password, when you register, subscribe to a newsletter, or create a reader account.
  • Content you submit — comments, letters to the editor, opinion pieces, images, videos, or other material you post or send to us, including through contact forms or press-release submissions.
  • Transaction information — billing details, delivery address, and payment references when you purchase a subscription, place a classified advertisement, or buy any product or service from us. Card numbers and sensitive payment credentials are processed by our licensed third-party payment processors and are not stored on our own servers.
  • Correspondence — information you provide when you contact our editorial, advertising, or customer-support teams.
  • Contest and promotion entries — details you submit to participate in polls, surveys, competitions, or promotional campaigns.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and technical information — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, and general device settings.

Under the NDPA, we only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so, which may include:

We currently do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, as no uniform technical standard for such signals has yet been adopted across the industry. We will reassess this position if and when such a standard is established.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, including satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Comments and other publicly submitted content may remain part of the public archive of an article even after an account is closed, unless removal is required by law or editorial policy.

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
  • Request data portability, where technically feasible; and
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or another competent regulator.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental or guardian consent. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it in accordance with applicable law.

12. International Transfers

Integrated Impact Publishers Limited is headquartered in Nigeria, and personal information you provide may be collected, stored, and processed in Nigeria or transferred to other countries where our service providers operate. Where such a transfer occurs, we take steps required by the NDPA to ensure your information continues to receive an adequate level of protection.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will post the revised Policy on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date, and, where changes are material, we will provide additional notice (such as a Site banner or email) before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after a revised Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
