Miyetti Allah warns members against reprisals
The National President of Miyetti Allah Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammed Kiruwa Ardon-Zuru, has warned the Fulani across the country, particularly those who were attacked in their respective communities by unknown assailants, against reprisals.
He said the main agenda of those behind Fulani killings is to ensure the country is engulfed in crisis, as other tribes in the country avenge murders of their kinsmen.
Ardon-Zuru, who stated this in Birnin-Kebbi, while addressing newsmen, said: “As a leader, we don’t want our people to avenge murders of their people. We realise that those who are attacking Fulani in Kaduna, Taraba and Benue states are carrying out the attacks to destabilise the states and the country.”
He also charged security agencies, to retrieve guns and ammunitions in the people’s possession in the flash point states, as well as prosecute those behind killings of innocent citizens.
The Miyetti Allah leader, who expressed the association’s readiness to cooperate with security agencies and other agencies, condemned agitation in some quarters that certain tribe should stand firm to defend themselves.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has vowed not to be carried away by the recent victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election, but, rather, it would intensify efforts to canvases more votes from the electorate across the state, ahead of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The party, through its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sani Dododo, said this while briefing newsmen after the party’s stakeholders meeting in Birnin-Kebbi.
Dododo, while responding to questions on the meeting said: “The APC in Kebbi will not be carried away by its recent victory at the polls, but will use the remaining period before the governorship election to go round and thank the people for voting APC and, also, solicit their supports for the upcoming governorship election.
“Let me use this medium to tell you that the stakeholders meeting also acknowledged the large turnout of women at the last election. We thank our mothers, sisters, wives aunties, all the women of Kebbi for devoting their time to queue and exercise their franchise as citizens of Nigeria,” he said.
