In a bid to promote admission integrity in tertiary institutions in Ogun State, the Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM) hosted the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and admission officers of both public and private institutions in Ogun State at a one day conference to proffer solutions to challenges facing admission officers of the institutions.

The well-attended conference was themed, “Towards doing admissions right in Nigeria’s institutions,” and the conference was held at the Multipurpose hall of the faith-based institution in Mowe, Ogun State.

In her opening remark, the Rector, RECTEM, Dr Stella Mofunanya noted that the job of getting admission right in tertiary institutions should not be left for authorities alone but the responsibility of all.

She mentioned that admission officers should complement the transparency and accountability the parent body is entrenching in admission process.

She said, “”Doing admissions right is our collective responsibility and I believe that the JAMB Coordinator of our beloved Ogun State could not wait any longer for this event to hold. Ecclesiastes 9:10 encourages all to do what our hands find to do diligently.”

Speaking, the JAMB Coordinator, Ogun State, Abdulhameed Abdulhakeem noted that it was the responsibility of his office to domesticate the concerns of the parent body as it strives to make admission related issues seamless and error-free.

He said, “We will no longer tolerate admission malpractices. All admissions must be on CAPS. We have automated all our services, and institutions that fail to comply will face severe sanctions from the Minister of Education.

“All admissions that are not on Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) are illegal admissions. So in order to prevent candidates from doing all these things, a grace of a month was given to institutions to compile all other undisclosed and disclose it and see how best it can be resolved.”
