Two Killed, Two Injured in Brutal Attack by Armed Assailants in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has verified a ruthless attack that took place in the early hours of Monday in Abeokuta, where two individuals lost their lives and two others were wounded by the gunfire of armed men

This was revealed through a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Omolola Odutola, in Abeokuta.

The incident according to Superintendent Odutola transpired in the dead of night, The attackers struck at 12:30 a.m., targeting the parking lot of the Diamond Dumplings establishment in the GRA area of Abeokuta.

She revealed that a trio of armed men, riding in an unmarked black Toyota Hilux, reportedly accosted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA number plate in the parking lot.

In her words, “Three armed men in an unregistered black Toyota Hilux confronted the occupants of a black Mercedes Benz GLE 350 with a DLA license plate, demanding the car keys.

“The assailants opened fire, hitting one Ola (surname unknown), one Shobanke Oluwatimileyin, and two others.

“The Divisional Police Officer from Ibara, responding to distress calls, arrived at the scene and ensured the area was secure before transporting the victims to the hospital.

“Upon their arrival, the attending doctor confirmed two fatalities, while the other two individuals are receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.”

Superintendent Odutola hinted at the possibility of a wider investigation into the tragic incident.

“The public will be informed about the progress of the investigation in the coming days as a follow-up to arrest the fleeing suspects,” she said.
