The Federal Government said mechanization of agricultural activities across the country would kick start in 632 local government areas across the country in September.
By implication, this would mean by the last quarter of 2020, 81.65 percent of local government areas in the country would have access to agric mechanization.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, at a South-South agro-industrial inspection/town hall meeting in Calabar, Cross River State, gave the assurance.
Stating that agricultural industrialisation is key to Nigeria’s economic viability. He explained that agricultural mechanisation initiative would be driven by the private sector.
“This mechanisation revolution is going to be kick-started in 632 Local Government Areas in the next six months across the country and will be private sector driven,” Nanono stated in a statement issued in Abuja by his ministry.
