Centre For Righteous Living, a non-governmental organization (NGO), raised to ensure and promote righteousness in government has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led government to act swiftly to nip in the bud the raging violence and attacks of innocent people in different parts of Nigeria.
The NGO made the clarion call in a statement at the end of its monthly meeting held in Lagos recently.
The organisation observed that some states of Nigeria like Plateau, Benue and Ondo have witnessed serious violent attacks by alleged Fulani herders and bandits killing their innocent hosts in their numbers.
Chairman, CRIL, Dr. Christopher Olatunji Abolade expressed his worries about the gradual resurgence of insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, where citizens could no more live and move freely without the fears of intruders, bandits and kidnappers who descend on individuals and communities killing people and destroying lives, livelihood, communities and properties.
The body therefore called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do something as a matter of urgency and not to wait until Nigerians take laws into their hands by resulting to self defence as advocated by some people.
They therefore suggested that the federal government should get to the roots of the matter by supporting thorough investigation where the sponsors of these violence attacks are apprehended, and the laws take its course on them without fear or favour.
CRIL noted that the rate of killings was becoming unbearable and if the government fail in its decisive action about it, it might snowballed to a consuming fire.
Warning that insecurity, if not checked timely, it can lead to total breakdown of law and order, CRIL advised President Tinubu to disallow saboteurs from undermining his government.
The NGO maintained that the federal government should live up to expectation and stop the perpetrators of violent assault especially the Fulani herdsmen from turning Nigerian land to bloodbath.
The federal government should deal decisively with the culprits and their sponsors, noting that rehabilitation of apprehended bandits would not work for the needed peace and security in Nigeria.
The organisation also called on the sub-national government state to rise to the challenge of securing their States and not live security function to the Federal Government alone.
The government was called upon to implement its Livestock Reforms and ensure that ranching is promoted while nomadic farming is controlled.
Traditional rulers were also called to support government effort by ensuring security in their domain and ensure no stranger enters their community community or Carey out illegal act without the knowledge of traditional rulers.
CRIL stressed that the Federal Government should encourage and promote community policing should, establishment and empowerment of vigilante groups like Amotekun, to partner and collaborate with the existing existing security agencies in the country to curtail and counter the murderous activities of the evil men in the society.
The organisation also called on the National Assembly to throw its weight behind the Federal Government to curb banditry, kidnappings and killings across Nigeria.
