Former World Heavyweight Boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has penned a heartfelt tribute to his friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, who died in a car crash in Nigeria on December 29, 2025.
Joshua, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, January 8, expressed sorrow and gratitude for the support shown to the families of his friends.
In the post, Joshua, who was a passenger in the vehicle and survived the accident in Ogun State, shared his shock at their loss and highlighted their immense value as individuals.
He wrote: “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.”
Joshua further noted that their passing has been tough for him and their families, saying, “100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.”
Recall that the boxing icon recently recounted the tragic deaths of two of his close friends in an emotional conversation with UFC star, Kamaru Usman.
Joshua noted that their deaths “haven’t sunk in,” saying, “One was in the front, and one was behind him, on the right side. They both passed away. It still hasn’t sunk in. It still hasn’t hit me yet.”
The post has since generated a fresh outpouring of condolences from fans and well-wishers, urging Joshua and his late friends’ families to bear their demise with fortitude.
One of such fans, @GodswillRed, tweeted, “They weren’t Nigerians, but they loved and supported the country by helping schools and sponsoring lots of aspects. They were true legends.”
@FavKCee wrote, “May the Almighty rest their souls and give the family and friends the strength to bear and pass through this dark time caused by the loss of their loved ones. Stay strong, Josh!”
@ucyberry said, “I’m so sorry for your loss, AJ. Sina and Latif were clearly incredible men to you. Your words show just how special they were to you and everyone around them.
