Barring any last-minute decision, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has fixed Friday, May 15, as the day he will declare his political ambition.

He will also use the opportunity to unveil the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as the platform he plans to use for his political ambition.

A source very close to the Oyo State Governor’s Office told Impact Nigeria News Online on Friday afternoon that the governor has concluded plans to declare his senatorial ambition while many of his loyalists currently serving in his government have moved to the APM.

Currently, Makinde is the only governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his faction of the party is currently having a running battle with another faction led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The source added that Makinde had instructed his lieutenants and other loyalists to move en masse to the APM before the May 15 day of what the source described as “mega rally.”

A visit to the Governor’s Office on Friday by Impact Nigeria News Online showed some highly important officials of the government putting many things in places for the rally.

Flags of APM as well as caps, T-shirts, mufflers and other items bearing the logo and names of APM have been procured and ready to be distributed next week for the rally.

A number of government officials, including our source, who have political ambitions have been collecting the forms of the APM following what the souce said was an instruction from the governor.
