A motorist on Saturday, August 8, gave details of how the fire extinguisher in his car saved him from the hands of hoodlums who wanted to attack him on the Lekki-Epe Expressway when his car broke down.
The motorist, Adekunle Michael Adewale, narrated his encounter on his X handle on Saturday morning, saying he summoned the courage and used the extinguisher to “destabilise their brain function” during the incident on Thursday night.
He wrote: “This morning, I bought a new fire extinguisher in my car because I used the former one to defend myself against 2 guys (hoodlums).
“Here is reason. Two nights ago, my car developed fault along the Lekki-Epe expressway during the late hours. Two guys came out from nowhere and started their usual harassment and extortion. I had few minutes to fix the car and deal with them.
“When I was done with the car, I told them I lived nearby, that I am not a stranger in the axis, but they refused to leave peacefully and let me go.
“The argument got heated and I resolved to defend myself. I reached out to the trunk of the vehicle, did as if I was getting something, meanwhile I was pulling out the safety pin on the fire extinguisher.
“The next second, I doused the content on their faces and destabilised their brain function.
“They took few steps away and I had the chance to start the vehicle and leave the scene safely.
“If you’re in Lagos (Island precisely), you would be familiar with this unruly behaviour from these hoodlums.
“I would advise everyone to be watchful and do everything to keep their car in good condition. And also know how to stay safe in situations like this.
“I would also use this medium to call the Lagos State Police Command to intensify efforts on this axis and prioritise people’s safety.”
