A 20-year-old lady who came from Gombe State to abduct a 12-year-old girl at a community in Adamawa State has been apprehended by men of the state police command.
The 12-year-old girl (names withheld) was earlier reported missing in Guyuk Local Government Area.
The case of a missing person was reported on Friday, September 18, at Guyuk Divisional Headquarters by the girl’s mother,
According to the report, the child went missing and was later sighted by some residents in the company of an unknown lady heading towards Balanga and Talasse axis of the community.
Upon receiving the report, the police immediately commenced coordinated efforts to locate the child and circulated information to neighbouring communities and relevant formations.
This yielded positive result and the girl was rescued while the lady, identified as Jamila Yusuf of Lafiya Village, Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, was subsequently arrested around Talasse, the border area between Adamawa and Gombe states.
The state police command stated that the rescued girl has been reunited with her family.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the command said in a statement on Saturday, September 19.
