Sale of inherited houses in Asaba and its environs in Delta state boom as police smash land grabbers in Okpanam Community.
It was gathered that desperate youths who had been involved in the sale of lands in Asaba and its environs have shifted to the sale of inherited houses at soar away prices to visiting Ibo businessmen who after the purchase demolish the houses for rebuild in standard
Sources said that dilapidated houses in Asaba and its environs are surveyed by these rampaging agents, many of who are Asaba indigenes who have been in the labour market over the years.
Investigation revealed that Asaba youths who used to sell lands under the subriqet ” egodinaofia” were stripped off the process following all lands that have been disposed and as such no land again for sale in Asaba and its environs.
Many of these youths who also have formed the habits of not working, and nonchalant act allegedly sell lands indiscriminately to two persons at once and in the end buy exotic vehicles they parade with in town with” heavy duty lovers” who often accompanying them to drinking Joints including” slaughter slabs” where they undergo at random sexual intercourse.
Their modus operandi, further investigation revealed, is to allegedly falsified documents for the houses that will be given to the unsuspecting buyers and negotiation will pay between N5million and N6miillion including making payments for other issues before they take possession of the houses and their tenants.
To ward off these ugly situation, rightful owners of the houses have developed tick skins and have embark on writing on their houses” This house is not for Sale” buyers beware and avoid police cases.
Ogbueshi David Agarwal who spoke to our reporter described the increasing rate in the sale of houses by desperate youths as pathetic, adding that since all lands were sold off in Asaba and its environs, these youths have shifted to selling inherited houses and lands at give away for feeding as the only way to cushion the effect of hunger.
He said “Asaba Youths have been selling lands and now no more lands to sell, they have resorted to selling inherited houses that are not their own as agents they go about surveying dilapidated houses they will sell to unsuspecting buyers.”
Sources said that most of the sold houses are currently in court following litigations and other irregular surroundings and in the recent times has created fear of the unknown and palpable tension.
But Police authorities in the state through the Commissioner, Adeleke Adeyinka told Journalists that land grabbers in Okpanam Community were in recent times smashed, adding that the police were ready to rid off land grabbers across the state as those who engaged in the act have been discovered to be jobless and thuggery to some Politicians in the state.
Old houses are sold for N5million and N6million depending on the power of negotiations, especially when the houses are in located areas where business activities could thrive and secured with little or no security stress as the agents will later retire to drinking Joints where they will be spending the money either on women or gambling in Bet Niger or pool betting.
