Popular Nigerian singer and civil activist, Charles Oputa, known as Charley Boy turns 70 next week.
The entertainer who went on Instagram to appreciate God and his family said “My Family. My Children. My health. My Spiritual Alertness. My Pedigree & Heritage. My Late Parents. My Spiritual Guardian. The Beauty of my Soul. CharlyBoy. The Spirit Of Contentment. A Simple Life. A Good name.”
Charley Boy began his entertainment career in 1982 when he released a highlife album. He went ahead to release Nwata Miss in 1990. He has at various times worked with various artists like Femi Kuti, Onyeka Onwenu, Dr. Alban and a host of others.
In spite his affluent background, he has always associated with the less privileged. At various times he advocated for the rights of various groups in the society. During the military rule of late General Sani Abacha, he led a protest to the Defense Headquarters to advocate for the payment of pension arrears of military pensioners. He was name Area Fada by commercial motorcyclists for his support when their operations are threatened. He was also part of the fuel subsidy protest in 2012, and was the founder of Save Nigeria.
Charley Boy in his Instagram message said he has been married to her wife for over 40 years and blessed with sixteen grandchildren.”I have sixteen, not ten, not five, not fifteen but sixteen grandchildren and I believe say God don bless me and my prayer to ordinary Nigerians is that may God bless you.”
Charley Boy will be 70 on June 19, 2020.

Former YBNL associate, Davolee, recently released his much anticipated EP, Festival Bar. The indigenous, raper, singer and songwriter finally dropped the EP following pressure from his fans after he dropped the first two years ago.
The EP is a real life story event of the rapper that took his fans into his humble beginning as a bar attendant in Festival Bar, a drinking joint in Lagos.
The project serialized how he was opportune to meet Olamide, his exit from the YBNL label, his battle with depression and how he came out if it. Davolee definitely has a lot to say in this well delivered rap in the four-tracked project.
Vector the Viper’s the African Mind EP
The veteran hardcore rapper dropped the EP on Thursday. The project shared Vector’s perspectives of himself and the society’s perspectives as he sees it. The project is based on sociopolitical issues as it affects Nigerians.
The tracks include Rape Voem, Fail Yours Voem, I Saw A Video Last Night, and Protect The Church.
He touches on rape which he condemned outrightly and condemned the degrading of sociopolitical valued in Nigeria.
