The Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has applauded Dr. Timileyin Oluseyi, a Nigerian-born medical doctor in the United States, for achieving an unprecedented milestone in his medical residency program.
Dr. Oluseyi swept all eight top awards at his graduation – an unmatched feat in the history of the institution – and made history as the first Black resident to achieve such distinction.
Describing the achievement as “excellence at its peak,” Dabiri-Erewa said Oluseyi’s success reflects the resilience, brilliance, and commitment Nigerians abroad are known for. “He has set a new standard in medical education and become a symbol of hope and inspiration for young Nigerians everywhere,” she said.
She stressed the importance of celebrating such triumphs to shift global narratives about Nigeria, noting that Oluseyi’s accomplishment is a powerful testament to the talent within the diaspora community. “We are immensely proud of him,” she added.
NiDCOM reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting Nigerians abroad who bring honor to the country through professional excellence and integrity. Dr. Oluseyi’s record-breaking success also stands as a moment of pride for the global Black community, highlighting the power of dedication in overcoming barriers.
