The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has drawn the attention of the public to what it described blackmail and smear attacks against the Commission and its Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
EFCC in a statement released by Dele Oyewale on Wednesday said it has enough facts about the sponsors of the insidious campaigns.
Oyewale said the attempt to link the agency Chairman with the ownership of some buildings belonging to individuals with verifiable addresses was uncharitable.
He further described it as ridiculous, the allegation that Magu shied away from being served a “fictitious writ of summons” over a matter long decided by the Judiciary.
He said corruption will always fight back and that the agency was not surprised by the actions of “some overseas-based, politically-exposed and disgraced elements being investigated for unnerving acts of corruption”.
“The Commission is on the trail of all the blackmailers and paid agents of darkness armed against it. Massive investigations of the platforms being used and their promoters have commenced. Facts about their operations shall be made known to the public.”
Oyewale wowed that the EFCC will institute legal actions against all the promoters of “a campaign of calumny” against the Commission.
