Officers Involved In Assault on Lagos Hotel Staff Will Be Disciplined – EFCC Chairman

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has

assured members of the public that two officers allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos will face appropriate disciplinary action.

The incident, which occurred during an early morning sting operation, was captured in a viral video showing the officers manhandling the hotel employee.

Olukoyede has since ordered the immediate arrest of the two officers involved in the unprofessional act of which the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed in a statement issued on June 27, 2024.

The sting operation resulted in the apprehension of several suspects who are currently undergoing profiling.

In response to the viral video and public outcry, Mr Olukoyede has mandated a thorough investigation into the conduct of the operation and the actions of the officers involved.

He reassured the public that the EFCC is committed to carrying out its duties professionally and with strict adherence to the rule of law.

“We assure the general public that the EFCC will continue to conduct its operations with utmost professionalism and respect for the rule of law,” Mr Olukoyede stated.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the chairman’s directives in a statement issued on June 27, 2024.
