The Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Friday visited Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the deposed Emir of Kano state at Awe, Nassarawa State, where he was exiled to by the Kano State Government.

The dethroned Emir of Kano who led the Friday Muslim prayers at the palace of Emir of Awe with El-Rufai in attendance announced that his removal from the throne by the Ganduje-led Kano state government was approved by God.

Sanusi, during the prayers, urged Muslim faithful to always obey God and accept his judgement in whatever happens.

He stated that whatever happens to anyone of them is destined by God; if not there is no way it would happen.

He explained that there is no way anything that God has not destined would come to pass.

He underscored the needs for Nigerians to also continue to pray for peace and progress of the country.

The dethroned Emir also urged Muslims to fear God in all their activities, reminding them they must give account of his or her deeds hereafter.

El-Rufai, who was in Awe to visit the dethroned Emir, arrived the Emir’s residence at about 12:45pm.

El-Rufai has since the dethronement given two appointments of Kaduna State Government to Sanusi.

On Tuesday, March 11 2020, El-Rufai appointed the former emir into the board of Kaduna State Investment Promotion Authority.

In less than twenty-four hours, the Kaduna State governor named Sanusi II as the chancellor of Kaduna State University.

“On behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai is delighted to appoint His Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University,” El-rufai’s spokesman Muyiwa Adekeye said in a statement. “In public life, His Highness has demonstrated a strong commitment to education.”

“The Kaduna State Government has no doubt that as Chancellor, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi, would provide symbolic and substantive leadership in raising the profile of KASU as an emerging centre of learning on the national and global level.”

El-Rufai said Sanusi’s appointment came at an exciting moment for the university’s transition to a multicampus structure with presence across the state.

The governor said the state government was grateful that HH Muhammadu Sanusi II continues to support and assist the realisation of its governance objectives.

Meanwhile, Sanusi’s lawyers late Friday got a court injunction to release him from confinement in line with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.
