The number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 225, according to the Gaza government’s media office.
In a statement on Thursday, officials described the deaths as part of a “war of extermination” against Palestinians and urged global media organisations to condemn the “systematic crimes” targeting journalists.
Tahseen al-Astal of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate confirmed that four media workers from Arab satellite channels were killed in an Israeli airstrike near al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) condemned the killings and demanded an investigation.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 4,400 Palestinians have been killed and over 13,400 injured since Israel resumed strikes on March 18, following the collapse of a ceasefire deal with Hamas.
Israel has also restricted aid access and cut power to a key desalination plant in Gaza.
