In a solemn and uplifting ceremony on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Nigeria’s civil servants gathered at the Family Worship Centre, Wuye, Abuja, for the Annual Civil Service Thanksgiving Service – a key event of Civil Service Week 2025.
The service brought together federal permanent secretaries, directors, senior government officials, and religious leaders in a unified moment of gratitude and rededication. Leading the event, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, described the gathering as a spiritual compass for ongoing reforms and innovation in the public service.
“Every milestone we’ve achieved is a testimony of God’s faithfulness,” she said, attributing improvements in digital governance and service delivery to divine guidance and committed leadership. She thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support, and acknowledged development partners for bolstering public sector transformation.
Mrs. Walson-Jack urged civil servants to see their roles as divine callings demanding integrity, compassion, and excellence.
Senior Pastor Sarah Omakwu challenged attendees to serve with sincerity, while Pastor Yakubu Adams Yola’s sermon, “Benefits of Gratitude and Thanksgiving,” emphasized contentment and purpose in public service.
Special prayers were offered for the nation, civil service institutions, and public officials, invoking wisdom, unity, and sustained progress.
The service concluded with music, intercession, and a renewed sense of national duty. For Nigeria’s public servants, it was not just a worship experience, but a call to serve with both skill and spiritual commitment.
