The Lagos State Government has successfully concluded its 2025 Hajj operations following the return of the final batch of 224 pilgrims on Sunday, June 22.
The group arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, at 2:15 PM aboard Flynas Airbus XY 9024 from Jeddah, marking the end of the pilgrimage for all 1,315 Lagos pilgrims.
Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, Commissioner for Home Affairs and Amir-ul-Hajj, described the exercise as “hitch-free, orderly, and spiritually rewarding.” He commended the pilgrims for their discipline, calling them “true ambassadors of Lagos and Nigeria.”
Layode credited the success to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s support and the implementation of a compulsory pre-departure medical screening, which ensured zero major health incidents throughout the pilgrimage.
Several returnees praised the state for providing what they described as a “five-star pilgrimage experience,” citing quality accommodation, feeding, and logistics.
“It felt like a home away from home,” said one pilgrim at the airport.
Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, attributed the smooth operation to divine guidance, inter-agency coordination, and effective leadership. He acknowledged key officials, including Hon. AbdulWaheed Shonibare and Alhaji Yusuf Araromi, for their roles.
Looking ahead, Layode said preparations for Hajj 2026 would build on this year’s success.
“This success is not a finish line—it is a foundation for greater achievements,” he affirmed.
The operation reaffirms Lagos State’s commitment to excellence in faith-based public service delivery.
