Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday celebrated the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, describing the project as a major milestone in the state’s transportation system.
Since its launch two years ago, the Blue Line has transported more than five million passengers without a single recorded accident, according to the governor. Trains now run every 10 minutes, making over 90 trips daily, significantly reducing travel time for commuters across the state.
“These achievements show that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” Sanwo-Olu said in a statement.
To mark the anniversary, the governor announced a 50 percent reduction in fares for all passengers on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He urged residents who have not yet used the service to take advantage of the offer.
“This project belongs to all of us, and it is your belief in a greater Lagos that makes progress possible,” he said, adding that the government remains committed to building safer and faster transport systems for residents.
The Blue Line is part of the state’s broader vision to ease mobility challenges in Africa’s largest city, where road traffic remains a daily struggle for millions.
