Justice Musa Dahiru of the Kano State High Court has ordered the remand of a man, Idris Kurma, for allegedly killing his wife, Aisha Idris, due to her refusal to grind groundnuts to make kuli-kuli.

Kuli-kuli is a popular snack made from roasted groundnuts that are sometimes spiced and eaten across many parts of the country.

The husband landed in trouble following the incident that occurred in Goda Village, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

He was said to have hit his wife over her refusal to prepare the snack and this made the woman slump. She was said to have thereafter died while she was being taken to the hospital

The man was arrested and after the conclusion of investigation by the police, he was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide.

When the charge was read to him in court on Friday, he pleaded not guilty  and following his not-guilty plea, his client requested for an adjournment so as to allow him  present his witnesses in the case.

Justice Dahiru granted the application and ordered him to be remanded at the Kano Correctional Centre. He adjourned the case till November 12 for continuation of the trial.
