A man has given details of how some rogue policemen from the Delta State Police Command arrested him and five others while they were charging their phones inside a hotel, took them to the station and asked each of them to pay N500,000 to bail themselves.

The man, who gave his name as Israel Edionsere, disclosed in a viral video that he eventually paid N40,000 to bail himself while some others allegedly paid up to N100,000 each.

However, in a swift reaction, the Nigeria Police Force, through its Complaint Response Unit (CRU), while reacting to the video, urged the man to provide his contact and other details in order to investigate the matter.

According to Edionsere, he came back from where he went to collect quotation for a job on Monday evening and decided to charge his phone at a hotel close to where he lives in Okuokoko because there was no power supply.

At the hotel, he met others who were also there to charge their phones or to play snooker. However, while charging his phone, he suddenly heard gunshots, as policemen from the command ordered everyone in the premises to lie down.

He added that the officers picked him and others and took them to their station at MOPOL Base, Airport Road, adding that at the station, the policemen allegedly used sticks to beat them up.

He alleged that the policemen asked them to confess that they were cultists, an accusation they refused to admit.

He stated that the policemen eventually asked each of them to pay the sum of N500,000 to bail themselves, and after much pleasing from him and showing them the quotation he went to collect, he allegedly paid N40,000 before he was freed on Wednesday morning.

He alleged that some others bailed themselves with N100,000 before they were allowed to leave the station.

He therefore urged the command to look into the matter in order that he can get justice.
