The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, December 2, announced that it has issued what it described as ‘Certificates of Expulsion’ to some leaders of the party it expelled last month, including the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, former Governor Ayo Fayose, suspended National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, and others.
The National Working Committee of the party announced the issuance of the certificates when the former National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, formally handed over to the new National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
The PDP said by issuing them the certificates, it acted under Article 59(3) of the PDP Constitution (as amended 2017), adding that on November 16 at the National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, it ratified the expulsion of the top chieftains for “gross anti-party activities, sabotage, and open collaboration with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). ”
Those who were issued the certificates are Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Umar Bature, Abdulrahman Mohammed, Ayo Fayose, George Turner, Austine Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah and others.
The party said the expulsion of the top chieftains is “final and irrevocable.”
At the ceremony, the new chairman assured all loyal members that the PDP under his leadership will commence healing and reconciliation among genuine members and enforce party discipline without fear or favour.
He also promised to rebuild structures across the 36 states and FCT as well as present a formidable, united front against the failed APC administration
“The PDP is alive, strong, and marching to victory in 2027. No amount of money, blackmail, or intimidation will stop us,” Turaki declared.
